I left a tiny bit of her in the picture so you can see I do indeed have a running buddy. However, to keep her from ditching me and since I didn't really ask to post her picture I mostly blurred her out. Note my dorky face though-she looked much better than I did at our finish there! I just have to give a shout out to my neighbor and running buddy (and friend!) who has joined in my love of running. She started running about 10 months ago with the goal of running a 1/2 marathon. Well let me tell you she has now ran that distance twice and she is going to do amazing in her race later this month! I love running (though it has been so inconsistent or non-existent in my life for so long. Something about the quiet and being outside and smelling the trees, hearing the birds with one ear and music with the other (I'm a 1 headphone girl when I run)! It engages all my senses and I LOVE IT! Before Thanksgiving I told my friend to hang in there, that it would get easier and she'd start to love it too. Back then we were struggling to run 4 miles. Well let me tell you last weekend we ran a 10k together and she set a personal record! I was very close to mine for fastest mile and fastest 5k. We aren't going to be winning any races any time soon but I'm sure enjoying running with her! And while we've been busier than I anticipated since returning from Europe my training has fallen off a lot. Hers has surged ahead! Today I met her mid-run to finish 15 miles with her. Yep, she ran 15 miles!!! I ran 5...and didn't feel the need to keep pushing to match how long she's running. I'm amazed friend at your strength and determination and how Christ has done a very radical work in your life! I love sharing the road/trails together and miss it when I'm out of town. Keep it up! I'll be cheering you on to a full marathon before you know it!
