Last weekend we attended an event set up to be a living nativity and experience like what you would in a Bethlehem marketplace. People in character, short sketches where they re-enacted the story of Christ's birth as well as other moments to show God's whole plan for the world. There was cocoa, treats, the kids made candles, weaving, beading, storytelling, etc. Oh and there were live animals to pet-from a camel to chickens to goats, etc. It was amazing-and all free.
Tonight we went to a Dickens Christmas-a church has this whole set outside of English landmarks like Tower Bridge and a toyshop, the missionary society, a candy maker, etc. Again, the kids could make a wooden yo-yo, have cocoa and treats, see people in character and costume putting on British accents (which were cracking our British friends up who we were with!). Then there was a whole show inside with singing and dancing representing Christmas around the world with 4 cultures represented. One of the OM Arts dancers was one of the ladies who danced and Ellia was totally enthralled. She definitely is going to be a dancer! Jaxon loved the popcorn and peanuts and golf cart parking service. Yep, they had golf carts pulling little shuttle cars with warm blankets to take you to and from your cars (which are only about 200 yards away!). Again like last weekend it was all free-unbelievable!
So yeah...so far we are really enjoying Christmas festivities and community activities. We are making some friends and getting out. We are ready for Ty to be home but all in all thankful! Which is why we are going to re-create Thanksgiving again tomorrow with our British friend who's staying a couple days...yep, we know how to do festive here! Hope y'all are also enjoying festivity and the season of anticipation and celebration of that baby who came long ago but meant so much to the world!
